Year 13 A Level PE Revision Day, Bedfordshire University
Posted on: 22/01/2020On Monday 20th January the Year 13 A Level PE class went to an A Level Revision Day put on for the first time by Bedfordshire University. The initial link with this university was formed with ex-governor Caroline Reid and we have continued to attend various exciting opportunities there over the past four years.
The day consisted of four sessions which were all linked to the A Level PE syllabus. The group listened to a Sport and Society session where the issues of inequality in sport were raised, followed by a Sport Psychology session looking at confidence in sport. The finally two sessions were practical and interactive and involved the use of an altitude chamber and force plates to measure acceleration while jumping. The group thoroughly enjoyed the day and got fully involved in their revision.
The highlight of the day was the introductory talk by the key notes speaker Dr Sophie Killer who is a high profile Sports Nutrionist. She was the nutrionist for the Team GB Athletics Team in the Rio Olympics and for Spurs FC last season. Her journey to where she is today was inspirational and very interesting.
