Guess the Number Under the Microscope!

It was an exciting week for Y7 students using microscopes for the first time in Science. Students first learnt the parts of a microscope and how to work out total magnification. Then they practised using the microscope and adjusting the coarse focus.

Students wrote a number on paper without showing their lab partner, and then their partner found the number under the microscope and was able to work it out. This practice allowed students to focus on the microscope, this time using a strand of hair and leaves!

Y7 students were enthused and astonished by the details produced. Y7 students are looking forward to making their own microscope slide and observing under a microscope after half term!
