KS4 Science Club

Despite the cold weather, our KS4 ecologists were excited to investigate the Compton School’s ecosystem. Since it will be difficult and time-consuming to count all the organisms in the school’s field, our KS4 scientists have employed a method called sampling, which involves taking random samples of the area to be studied. This allows them to measure the abundance and distribution of different species.

They then analysed the results with the help of our amazing Y12 biologists (Moska, Anuyah, Elona, Yasmin and Mania) and the wonderful Ms Dawsmith. They also learned the importance of statistical tests to check whether their results are significant, which will be useful for them in the future should they decide to study A-Level Biology.
