Bank of England Museum Trip
Posted on: 11/07/2022On Wednesday 29th June, our Year 12 Economists visited the Bank of England Museum where they gained insight into the responsibilities of the bank, such as setting the interest rate whilst also taking inflation into account, controlling the money supply through quantitative easing, and producing banknotes and coins. Students examined the history of banknotes and coins, noting changes in quality and inscriptions dating all the way back to the 17th century! Some students successfully engaged in a crack-the-code activity and won a variety of prizes, including a gold bar souvenir! Students enjoyed a positive experience overall and can now implement what they have learnt about the Bank of England’s role in monetary and financial stability into their macroeconomics studies.
