KS5 Schools' Analyst Competition

Posted on: 25/05/2022

Congratulations to all our Y12 A-level and BTEC chemists who have represented the Compton School in the South-East regional Schools’ Analyst Competition 2022, which is an annual competition organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Students worked together in groups of three/four to find the perfect formula for fish and chips. To do this, they had to solve chemical problems involving mathematical and chemical skills. They carried out practical analysis to deduce unknowns without the aid of spectrometers. They have submitted their results online and are waiting to find the winning team within our school and the overall winning team from our region. Best of luck to you all!

This competition was a fantastic opportunity for our sixth formers to demonstrate and expand on their existing chemistry knowledge, skills and aptitude for analytical science through practical analytical experiments based on relevant societal or industrial problems.
