Peer Mentors
Peer mentors are selected from students in Year 9 and 10. Their role is to act as mentors/buddies to students in Year 7 and 8 who may be vulnerable or identified by Year Managers as needing support. To ensure the selection process is rigorous, students must complete an application form and attend an activity based interview. This group then take part in a 6 week peer mentoring training course led by a mental health professional and senior staff.
Following completion of the training, mentors meet up with their mentees on a weekly basis during Personal Development Time to carry out the mentoring sessions. These sessions and the training are supported by Senior Peer Mentors who are in Year 11.
