Whole School Curriculum Intent

The belief in an academic curriculum for all students, irrespective of socio-economic background or academic ability, is fundamental to the success of The Compton School. The curriculum at The Compton School focuses on maximising achievement for all students using the mission statement ‘Excellence for All’. Our ambitious curriculum model has consistently supported the progress and achievement of all our students through a focus on the delivery of high-quality academic qualifications.

The school operates a three-year Key Stage 3 and two-year Key Stage 4 curriculum to ensure appropriate levels of depth and breadth are delivered in all programmes of study. The aim of this is also to develop students’ knowledge and skills, with a particular focus on the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science.

Furthermore, the curriculum also promotes the development of a wide range of talents and interests which generate curiosity and enthusiasm in Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, Business and Design, as well as a deep understanding and appreciation of the Arts. All students study Drama, Music, PE and Art throughout the whole of Key Stage 3.
