16-19 Bursary Fund (2026/27)
KEY INFORMATION
The Compton Sixth Form is able to offer help to students with the cost of studying.
There are two types of bursary available, a Vulnerable Bursary and Discretionary Bursary.
Vulnerable Bursary
If you fall into one of the following categories, then you fall into the higher priority group and will receive a Vulnerable Bursary up to £1,200 per year to help with the cost of studying:
•You are in or recently left local authority care
•You get Universal Credit in your own name
•You get Disability Living Allowance (DLA) in your own name and either Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit (UC)
•You get Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in your name and either Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit (UC)
We do require original evidence from external agencies, key worker/social worker or evidence of benefit in your own name.
Discretionary Bursary
If you live at home with your parent(s) or carer(s) who receive benefits and fall in to one of two bands of household income you MAY be eligible for financial help from the Discretionary Fund.
- Discretionary Bursaries that institutions award to meet individual needs. For example, trips, meals, books and equipment. If a student require some items of clothing or footwear to access further education they will need to speak to the Sixth Form Administrator to discuss this. Students may be awarded this bursary if they fall in to one of two bands of household income.
- Band 1- annual household income of £22,500 or less
- Band 2- annual household income between £22,501 - £28,000
Please note money will be allocated in order of priority based on bandings, Band 1 being the highest priority. Students will also need to meet the schools behaviour, attendance and punctuality expectations in order to receive payment.
The amount that each student will be eligible for will be confirmed once all applications have been received. You will be allocated a provisional amount which may change.

The deadline for completed applications is Friday, 25th September 2026.
Key Reminders when completing your application:
- Please ensure all evidence is uploaded in full
- Bank accounts must be in a students name and evidence of the account must be uploaded
Further guidance on how to use the Applicaa portal to access your funds will be issued once your application has been approved.
