Food and Nutrition
Posted on: 28/06/2022What a week of science we have had in the food room this week! Some students were working with yeast and learnt exactly what is needed for this biological raising agent to work. Other classes made a bechamel sauce for macaroni and cheese: we saw gelatinisation take place in front of our own eyes.
Finally, we completed an experiment using cheese straws to see which oven shelf is best to use when cooking (and why!). Some of the cheese straws came out perfectly. The others were not wasted; we analysed the outcomes and understood the beginnings of an experience in GCSE Food! Thank you to all students for remembering their ingredients this week.
