Imagine that you are a sandwich. You are made of fluffy white bread (or wholemeal, whichever you prefer) and are filled with butter and jam. Unfortunately, you are about to be eaten. Sorry about that.''

Year 8 students are learning about Digestion this term. Students were asked to write a short story for homework, describing the journey of a jam sandwich through the digestive system. Students were assessed on the criteria below:

• Description of what each part of the digestive system is like as the jam sandwich travels through
• What happens to the jam sandwich in each part of the digestive system
• How the jam sandwich felt..

We were very impressed with students scientific knowledge along with their fantastic imagination.
