Science Club - Bouncy Balls

Posted on: 14/03/2023

Last week in science club, students made bouncy balls! Making a bouncy ball is an example of a chemical reaction. This reaction happens between the Borax and glue. The Borax is the cross-linker for the glue’s polymer molecules which creates chains of molecules that stay together.

Students then tried adjusting the amount of Borax and glue. They noticed that the more glue they used, the bigger the ball is! They also tried adding other ingredients like corn-starch to see what happens to the ball’s bounce and shape.
