National Schools Sports Week!

Posted on: 24/06/2024

Last week was National Schools Sports Week!

Within PE all week, students were given the opportunity to try a completely new and different sport in comparison to the curriculum all year round. Some of these sports included ultimate frisbee, alternative rounders, pop lacrosse, softball, and flag football. The first picture shows Miss Whales year 8 girl's class in their pop lacrosse lesson! The second photo shows Miss Crofts and Miss Sherwood's classes in their ultimate frisbee lesson! Also, for National Schools Sports Week the PE department held the annual inter-form tug of war competition throughout the week during PDT.

On Monday we had the year 7 tug of war competition, where 7T took home the trophy (third photo).
On Tuesday we had the year 8 tug of war competition, where 8M took home the trophy (fourth photo).
On Thursday we had the year 9 tug of war competition, where 9M took home the trophy (fifth photo).
On Wednesday we had the year 10 tug of war competition, where 10P took home the trophy (sixth photo).

Hyrox competition
On Thursday the PE department held the first ever Hyrox fitness competition. Four students were selected from each form in year seven and year eight, resulting in over 60 students competing in the competition. Students had the task of completing five different stations within the quickest time possible. We had six winners from each year's group, three boys and three girls. The seventh photo shows the year seven girls' winners (Leyla 1st, Auset 2nd and Brenda 3rd), the eighth photo shows the year seven boys' winners (Ben 1st and Niall & Andy joint 2nd), the ninth photo shows the year eight girls' winners (Orla 1st, Marina 2nd and Maya 3rd) and lastly the tenth photo shows the year eight boys' winners (Izuki 1st and Mohamed & Hatim in joint 2nd).
