Biology Week - Science Club Every Day After School
Posted on: 06/10/2022Students from all year groups were left influenced by the remarkable launch of Biology week. Biology week portrayed the splendid curiosity students had for Biology. On Monday's session, students were invited to the DNA laboratory! Students had the exciting opportunity to extract DNA from strawberries.
It was a meticulous procedure which ended with students observing DNA in the form of white strings! After learning more about the genetic information inside the cells of the body, students had the proficiency to move on to the next practical activity of constructing an edible DNA model.
Students worked in small groups to form the DNA model using four different coloured candies to represent the four bases that make up the DNA. Then students exhibited their outstanding teamwork skills by arranging the strands and chains together and managed to surpass last year's highest record (around 3m) by creating a 5m 82 cm long DNA model. Fantastic work and a big well done to our future biologists!
