C.S.I hits the Science Club

Posted on: 21/06/2023

It was an exciting opportunity for Forensic science club attendees. Pupils enjoyed investigating a murder mystery. Following a terrible murder CSI Compton sprang into action to solve this mysterious crime! Crime scene officers in full hazmat suits to prevent contaminations and things bought onto the crime scene, collected evidence left behind at the scene including fingerprints and possible murder weapons. These were all recorded as evidence for further analysis. Over the coming weeks, pupils will explore the evidence using forensic science. It was wonderful to see the science club so well attended and there was much excitement amongst pupils as they began to investigate the crime scene.

 Following week..

Students have successfully conducted a blood splatter analysis. Students learnt about how blood behaves according to certain scientific principles. Students then analysed the blood evidence left behind at the crime scene and concluded how the blood might have been shed. From what may appear to be a random distribution of bloodstains at a crime scene, students recognised that they could categorise the stains by collecting information from spattering patterns, and other marks that assist them in recreating the sequence of events that occurred after bloodshed. Young forensic scientists are very close to solving this crime case! Tune in next week to find out what the young forensic scientists get up to next!
